Second Cycle Degree in Mechatronic Engineering
The Master's Degree Course (MSc) in Mechatronic Engineering at the University of Padova, Vicenza, lasts two years, with a half-yearly organization, and aims to train engineers able to tackle the challenges that are launched by industries on a daily basis. In fact, the course is instituted to respond to the needs of the productive fabric of the North-East Italian territory, in particular from the area of Vicenza, which hosts over three hundred small and medium-sized enterprises operating in the field of Mechatronics and Innovative Mechanical Technologies.
The professional figure of the mechatronic engineer is transversal to many areas of engineering, such as, electrical, mechanical, and electronic/computer engineering. The main objective of this MSc degree is to train a three-year mechatronic engineer who masters and is able to integrate in a mechanical project the modern technologies of sensors, actuators, and electric drives, even controlled in real-time by programmable electronic devices. This integration is possible only if the mechanical design is carried out with modern techniques that can account for displacements and stresses, predict noise and vibrations, calculate motion laws and actuation torques to be supplied as references to the electronic sub-systems, for the correct functioning of the system. The mechatronic engineer thus becomes the natural coordinator of electro-mechanical projects, in which she/he is able to discern mechanical and electronic solutions that are best suited to the different specific purposes and takes care of its implementation in the various phases of the project.
