Educational programme and competences

The OVERALL EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMME of the School overs three years and includes both compulsory and elective activities carried out within universities, companies or research centres at both the national and international level:

  • General courses and lectures, mostly regarding methodological issues (e.g. statistics)

  • Specialized courses and laboratories coordinated by the PhD Faculty and held by the PhD Faculty and/or other lecturers

  • Specialized courses and seminars organized outside the University of Padova by other private and public institutions in Italy and abroad; in particular, since 2020, an initiative has been activated that offers seminars in collaboration with other Italian PhD Courses (optional)

  • Summer schools shared with other national and/or international doctoral schools, which allows Ph.D students to get in touch with Italian academics and practitioners experts in the areas of Management Engineering and Real Estate Appraisal, deepen research and statistical methods and procedures.

The educational programme is defined each year by the Directors of the School and it is updated during the year.

The aim of the programme is that, along the three years, Ph.D. students gain methodological competences (designing and positioning innovative and complex studies; selecting and applying different qualitative and quantitative methodologies according to the research objectives; presenting research results to different types of audience, both academic and managerial; etc.), relational competences (team-working on complex and uncertain topics; working properly in different cultural environments, both academic and industrial both in Italy and abroad; public speaking; etc. ) and application-oriented competences (managing of long-term and high-uncertainty projects; detecting weak signals of ongoing innovative trends; multi-dimensional critical analysis of organizational situations; adopting an overarching approach, considering both technological and organizational and managerial issues, in analysing problems or situations; etc.).
