The Conference is intended to provide a throrough discussion on empirical
studies and interpretative theories of the production systems generally
referred to as Industrial Districts. A particular emphasis will be put
on the areas where those systems have proven to be particularly successful,
as in the case of the northeast of Italy. The aim is to identify possible
scenarios and evolutionary paths, by discussing different experience and
by contrasting different viewpoints. The participants are expected not
only to contribute to the analysis of such systems, but also to provide
evaluations of their prospects, as well as suggestions and proposals. The
following topics are addressed: Technology, Labour, Organisation, Institutions
